NEWCOMERS WELCOME!

*Male Dancing:        I travel almost monthly to different cities for dance conventions where the Israeli choreographers fly in from Israel and teach their hottest dances.  Every summer I spend about 6 weeks in Israel, dancing almost every single night in local dance sessions.  All dance sessions in Israel, as well as at the dance camps, consist of about 45% male attendance.  This is a big issue for me because when it comes to culture, the United States is lacking in this department.  We are the only country that I know of that creates assumptions for male dancers.  Whether you are a man or woman, dancing in a cultural and extremely pleasurable setting is rewarding.  Israeli folk dancing is not like ballet, in which people come to class wearing tutus.  In an Israeli folk dance harkada, or session, my students wear whatever they want from workout clothes to jeans and comfortable footwear.  In a performing group, however, the dress attire is mainly cultural costumes and different, yet coordinating, outfits for opposite sexes.  Men are a very important part of Israeli folk dancing.  Without the men, we couldn't dance the couples dances.  Men- Come join our class!  The more men that attend, the more often we will teach and dance couples dances.

Almost every other dance session in the United States and all over the world spend a third of the session dancing couple sets.  Atlanta is not as fortunate and we are known throughout the dance community for this.  Share this tradition with the entire family.  Men and woman are encouraged to come.  There are over 4000 Israeli folk dances and 45% of them are couples.  Spend time with your spouse or friend, meet new friends, or come alone.
